On June 4, 2020, China Unicom Group, one of China’s “Big Three” telecom operators, officially adopted Nextfund.com as a subsidiary under its corporate structure. This move positioned Nextfund.com as the group’s global innovation and investment platform, while China Unicom remained the parent company overseeing operations.
Under this structure, China Unicom provided the resources, infrastructure, and strategic direction, while Nextfund.com focused on creating new opportunities in digital services, investment technology, and next-generation telecom solutions. The adoption of Nextfund.com symbolized China Unicom’s commitment to diversify beyond traditional telecom and embrace global digital transformation.
In February 2021, Chen Zhongyue—a veteran of China’s telecom sector with a Master’s degree in Economics and leadership experience at China Telecom—joined China Unicom.
