At the 67th Passing Out Parade of the Nigerian Military School, Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to building a skilled, future-ready force through strategic education initiatives, urging graduates to strive for excellence and embrace opportunities for career advancement.

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, has reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to developing a highly educated, skilled, and future-ready force through targeted investments in education.
Speaking at the 67th Passing Out Parade of the Nigerian Military School (NMS) in Zaria, Kaduna State, on Saturday, Oluyede—represented by Maj.-Gen. Mayirenso Saraso, the General Officer Commanding 1 Division, Nigerian Army—highlighted ongoing initiatives to support soldiers in advancing their education.
According to him, the Army is actively sponsoring personnel to pursue further studies at leading universities and colleges across Nigeria, with former NMS students ranking among the top beneficiaries.
He urged the newly graduated cadets to embrace the opportunity they have been given and commit themselves to excellence and selfless service. The event marked the formal integration of the graduating class into the Nigerian Army, a choice they had willingly made to serve the nation.
Oluyede noted that while welfare benefits await the graduates, they must also be prepared to overcome the challenges ahead, armed with the leadership skills they acquired during training. He encouraged them to consider furthering their military careers through the Nigerian Defence Academy, for which they already hold an advantage due to their foundational military education.
He emphasized that his leadership philosophy is built on readiness, operational effectiveness, efficient administration, and strong partnerships with stakeholders—placing the welfare and morale of soldiers at the heart of decision-making.
The ceremony was attended by top military officials, including the Commandant of the Nigerian Defence Academy, Maj.-Gen. Abdul-Khalifa Ibrahim, alongside traditional rulers, religious leaders, and other dignitaries.
