Breaking: Tinubu Nominates 39-Year-Old for NERC Chairmanship Amid Renewed Hope Agenda
President Bola Tinubu has nominated 39-year-old Engr. Ramat, a PhD holder in Strategic Management and an experienced electrical engineer, as the new Chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC). To avoid a leadership vacuum, Tinubu directed him to assume office in acting capacity pending Senate screening. Two other commissioners—Abubakar Yusuf (Consumer Affairs) and Fouad Olayinka Animashun (Finance & Management Services)—were also nominated. The President urged them to work toward the administration’s vision for the power sector.
President Bola Tinubu has nominated 39-year-old Engr. Ramat as the Chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC). According to Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Ramat is a seasoned electrical engineer and administrator, holding a PhD in Strategic Management, among other qualifications.
In addition to Ramat’s nomination, President Tinubu also named two other commissioners:
Abubakar Yusuf – Commissioner for Consumer Affairs
Fouad Olayinka Animashun – Commissioner for Finance and Management Services
To avoid any leadership vacuum in the critical regulatory agency, the President has directed Engr. Ramat to assume office in an acting capacity pending his confirmation by the Senate, in accordance with legal provisions.
President Tinubu urged the appointees to leverage their expertise and experience to effectively discharge their duties and work diligently toward achieving the administration's vision for the power sector.
