EFCC Raids Green Legacy Hotel at Obasanjo Library, Arrests Suspected Internet Fraudsters
EFCC operatives from the Lagos Directorate raided the Green Legacy Hotel within the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library complex in Abeokuta, arresting several suspected internet fraudsters during a pool party. The operation, which follows a similar raid days earlier in Ogun State, reportedly led to the seizure of over 20 luxury vehicles and other valuables.
Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have reportedly conducted a sting operation at the Green Legacy Hotel, situated within the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library complex in Abeokuta, Ogun State. Several young individuals suspected of involvement in internet fraud were taken into custody.
According to eyewitness accounts, the raid took place in the early hours of Sunday during a pool party on the library premises. The operation was said to involve EFCC officers from the commission’s Lagos Directorate.
This latest development follows a similar EFCC action just five days earlier, when officers from the Ibadan Zonal Command arrested a suspected internet fraudster found in possession of two locally-made pistols. That operation, which targeted K-Hotel in Itori, Ewekoro Local Government Area, led to the arrest of 55 suspects.
Video footage circulating online from Sunday’s incident shows guests fleeing in panic as gunshots were reportedly fired. Sources claim the EFCC seized over 20 high-end vehicles along with other valuable items during the raid.
An X (formerly Twitter) user recounted narrowly missing the operation, stating that he left the venue minutes before learning of the EFCC presence.
When contacted, Vitalis Ortese, Managing Director of OOPL Ventures, confirmed that an incident had occurred but said details would be provided later. EFCC spokespersons Ayo Oyewole (Lagos Command) and Dele Oyewale (Headquarters) both said they would verify the situation before making furthe
r comment.
