Funke Opeke is a Nigerian electrical engineer, celebrated tech entrepreneur, and founder of MainStreet Technologies and MainOne Cable Company. Born in Ibadan, Oyo State, she earned her bachelor's in Electrical Engineering from Obafemi Awolowo University and a master's from Columbia University .

After working in the U.S.—notably as Executive Director in Verizon’s wholesale division—she returned to Nigeria in 2005 to serve as CTO at MTN Nigeria, and later briefly held roles at Transcorp and NITEL .

In 2008, she founded MainOne, aiming to combat Nigeria’s connectivity challenges. The company went on to build West Africa’s first privately owned, open-access submarine cable (about 7,000 km long) connecting Portugal with Accra, Dakar, Abidjan, and Lagos . In 2015, MainOne also launched Nigeria’s largest Tier III data center, MDXi .

Under her leadership, MainOne gained recognition regionally and globally—earning her accolades such as CNBC All Africa Businesswoman of the Year (2012), Africa’s Most Powerful Women in Technology (2013), inclusion in Forbes’ “World’s Top 50 Women in Tech” (2018), and she was named an Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) in 2022 . She later stepped back from day-to-day leadership following MainOne’s acquisition by digital infrastructure giant Equinix .

Telecom Data Profit is a new, innovative platform that converts Africa’s growing demand for affordable internet connectivity into weekly and monthly returns for everyday investors. It operates by buying telecom data and call minutes in bulk at wholesale prices and reselling them in smaller units—this high-volume, rapid-turnover model drives scalable profits .

Funke Opeke’s endorsement highlights the significance of Telecom Data Profit: it turns passive data consumers into active stakeholders, aligning with the inclusive and transformative digital growth she has championed through MainOne.
