Peter Obi Gives ₦15m Support to Bauchi Nursing and Quranic Schools
Peter Obi has donated ₦15 million to two institutions in Bauchi State, supporting nursing education and Quranic studies as part of his ongoing commitment to health and education.
Former Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, Peter Obi, has contributed a total of ₦15 million to support two educational institutions in Bauchi State — Malikiya College of Nursing Sciences and Intisharu Taufizul Quranic School.
During a visit to the state on Friday, Obi presented ₦10 million to the nursing college and ₦5 million to the Quranic school.
While addressing staff and students at the Malikiya College of Nursing Sciences, Obi stressed the critical role nurses play in Nigeria’s healthcare system. He noted that health remains a key measure of a nation’s progress, and that human capacity — especially in the nursing profession — is central to achieving quality healthcare.
“You are essential to our society and our country. If there is any way we can assist the important work you are doing, we must do it,” he said.
Obi explained that he has consistently visited and extended support to around 70 nursing institutions each year as part of his commitment to improving the health sector.
The proprietors of the two schools, Aminu Danmaliki and Alhaji Usman Abubakar, expressed appreciation for the donation, assuring that the funds will be used effectively to improve the institutions.
