Tiwa Savage Says Her Only True Love Is Her Son

Nigerian music star Tiwa Savage has opened up about her personal life, revealing that the only genuine love she has ever experienced is with her son, Jamil.

Speaking in an emotional chat with Zeze Mills on Friday, the 45-year-old reflected on her past relationships and admitted that what she once believed was love turned out to be nothing more than infatuation.

“I’ve only truly felt love with my son. When I look back, even at my marriage, I realise it wasn’t real love,” she said.

The award-winning singer also wondered if romantic love was ever meant for her, noting that despite several attempts, it always seemed to elude her.

Her comments come after she previously spoke about her divorce from music executive Tunji “TeeBillz” Balogun. The pair tied the knot in 2013 but went their separate ways in 2018 after unsuccessful reconciliation efforts.

Savage has said that the split came during a difficult period when she was battling postpartum depression following Jamil’s birth. She also recounted facing heavy public criticism and being advised by influential figures to keep quiet about the matter in order to safeguard her public image.
